This evening I am presenting an image of a grave-marker from Glasgow’s Southern Necropolis.
This is an interesting record of social history as manifested by the high rate of infant mortality.
The memorial is to:
- Thomas Cuthbert who died age 38 on Nov 2nd 1872 and his children:
- Catherine Jane age 8
- Elizabeth who died in infancy
- Thomas who died July 2nd 1878 age 9
- Wilhelmina who died age 27 on May 12th 1893.
The memorial also records the passing of Thomas’s wife Catherine Miller on Aug 7th 1879.
