This evening, I am posting images of a recent whisky tour which included Auchentoshan Distillery, near Glasgow.

Auchentoshan
was founded in 1823 and is now owned by Suntory of Japan.

The malt is unpeated and, unusually for Scotland, triple distilled.

We were treated to a tour by a first class guide who led us through the entire process from malting to mashing to fermentation, distillation and maturation.

Auchentoshan’s main malts are:

  • Auchentoshan Select -40pct ( 8-10 yrs)
  • Auchentoshan 10 yrs old -40pct
  • Auchentsohan 21 yr old-43pct

Tour guide explaining the different whisky regions of Scotland which comprise:

  • The Highlands, Islands and Speyside
  • Campbeltown
  • Islay
  • Lowlands

Overall, a good start to our four day whisky tour. More information and images in tomorrow’s blog
