This evening I visited the site of the new Whitelee Wind farm near Eaglesham, Scotland. This mammoth project was officially opened today. Key features:

• Europe’s largest wind farm comprising 140 turbines.
• Current generating capacity 322 MW
• Another 36 turbines planned which will increase output to 452 MW, enough to power 250,000 homes.
