Loch Lomond View

View of Loch Lomond, Scotland

This evening, I am focusing on Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s top tourist attractions and which regularly features in my private tours. Loch Lomond is the largest expanse of freshwater in Great Britain. It is the centrepiece of a national park and is surrounded by mountainous landscapes including Ben Lomond ( 974m).

Loch Lomond represents the meeting point of the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland. The area is a haven for wildlife. More than a quarter of Britain’s plant species thrive here plus a wide array of birds and mammals.

There is much to appeal to a wide range of visitors with activities including hiking, cycling, fishing, boating, photography and swimming (in summer). It is possible to fly to Loch Lomond by seaplane, a short trip from Glasgow.

One of the key stopping places for tours is the quaint and historic village of Luss which has a church located on a Christian site dating back about 1500 years.

Loch Lomond is associated with the exploits of folk hero, Rob Roy. There is a colony of wallabies on one of the islands in the Loch. Read more on Visit Loch Lomond, Visit Scotland…
