Quiraing, Isle of Skye

Quiraing, Isle of Skye, Scotland

This evening, I am dipping into my portfolio  to present a selection of landscape images from the Isle of Skye which is a large island in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. Skye is very popular with visitors although from my experience many underestimate the distances  involved. The island is is 50 miles long and up to 25 miles wide. At least one full day should be allowed to tour the island.

Most of Skye is ofvolcanic origin which in turn has produced lava landscapes, especially in the Trotternish area which features the Old Man of Storr. The island is perhaps best known for the Cuillin Mountains which are very popular with climbers throughout the year. Here is a video clip  taken in the centre of Skye.
