Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye

Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye, Scotland

This evening, I am focusing on a very distinct, miniature landscape of the Isle of Skye, west of Scotland. This comprises a small glen (valley) which in turn features strange conical hills, caves, a small loch and rock formations. The latter includes Castle Ewen, allegedly a fairy castle. Careful viewing of the images above and below will reveal the conical hills. As an alternative to construction by the fairies, there is a theory that wind action may have moulded the small hills into their present shape.

Fairy Glen is quite close the ferry port of Uig in the north of the island. When touring Skye, I usually swing into the Fairy Glen which, being quiet, is quite a departure from the normal hustle and bustle. The road is too narrow for tour buses and, in any event, there is only one way out-via the way in! An interesting and unique little spot.
