Entrance to Stlrling Castle, Scotland

This morning, I collected my small group from their Edinburgh hotel and then proceeded as follows:

First to Stirling Castle in the centre of Scotland. Here we toured the site taking in the Great Hall, Chapel Royal, Tapestry Weaving, Kitchens and stunning Royal Apartments (recently refurbished).

From the castle entrance we were able to view the site of Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 where William Wallace scored a major victory over the English

Next we continued north, stopping for lunch at the Green Welly at Tyndrum, and then on to Glencoe via Rannoch Moor. At Glencoe we stopped for photos before moving on.

After Glencoe we continued north tracking Loch Linnhe and up the Great Glen past Fort William and along the line of the Caledonian Canal to Fort Augustus where we had a short break.

Next we tracked the west side of Loch Ness up to Castle Urquhart, our final tour destination. Here we toured the castle and climbed the tower to afford superb views of Loch Ness, both north and south.

Overall, we made good progress and benefited from sunny weather.
