Here we stopped for a quick visit and coffee, then back north for a few miles to visit Dunrobin Castle, a stunning architectural gem and home to the Dukes of Sutherland. Next, back to Dornoch for lunch and then south to Glen Ord Distillery where we joined in the 4,00pm tour and learned about the whisky making process from malting, mashing and fermentation through to distillation and maturation. This is a large distillery which still undertakes malting on site. An informative tour.
