Kyleakin, Skye

Kyleakin, Skye, Scotland

This evening, I am focusing on the pretty village of Kyleakin on Skye. Here can be found the ruins of Castle Moil (the bare castle) which is now a dangerous ruin. This fortification, which stands on a knoll of Torridonian sandstone,  may date from the time of the Vikings. In the 15th century it was a Mackinnon stronghold.

Castle apart, Kyleakin is popular with visitors in the summer months, particularly backpackers. The village is situated close to the Skye Bridge on the eastern tip of Skye, near Kyle of Lochalsh.
