Pitlochry in Bloom, Scotland
Today, we visited Pitlochry in central Scotland. This town is popular with visitors and boasts two whisky distilleries, a special garden (Explorers),shopping and scenery.
We commenced by touring the Explorers Garden, which is relatively new, and focused on the stories of Scottish plant hunters who risked their lives travelling around the world in search of new plants and trees for cultivation, commerce and conservation.

The Explorers Garden offers good views of local mountain Ben Vrackie (or speckled mountain).

Nearby is the popular Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Later in the evening we saw a rivetting performance of Dr. Angelus, a black comedy by Robert Dawson Scott.

Next we went to view the nearby Black Spout waterfall which entailed a short walk through woodland. A few years ago, in this locality, I participated in an archaeological dig exploring a Pictish settlement.

Next, a walk into town taking in the local church and Blair Atholl Distillery.
