Ruchill Church Hall, Glasgow

Ruchill Church Hall, Glasgow, Scotland

This evening, I am focusing on Ruchill Church Hall, Glasgow G20. This is considered a well regarded,  minor work by famous Glaswegian archiect/designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh ( 1868-1928).  Incredibly, it still used today for its original purpose, as a community centre. The adjacent church is not a Mackintosh design but about one mile away can be found the only church designed by Mackintosh to have been built, the Mackintosh Church  at Queen’s Cross.

The church hall building dates from 1899 and primarily consists of two halls and two committee rooms.

The interior features some classic Mackintosh design work.

Whenever possible I include the hall in my Mackintosh architecture tours  of Glasgow.
