This morning, we departed our lodgings at Portree on Skye and then  drove north to viist the natural sights of the Trotternish area of the island. First, we called in at Kilt Rock, a vertical cliff face so named due to the effect of vertical basalt columns which form pleats and intruded sills of dolomite which form the pattern.

Steam Engine, Jacobite Express

Steam Engine, Jacobite Express, Mallaig

This morning, we departed our excellent lodgings at Treetops, Fort William and then drove down to the town railway station where  guests boarded the Jacobite Express Steam Train ( aka ‘Harry Potter Train’) which departed on time at 10.15 and duly arrive Mallaig some two hours later after travelling along some stunning, West Coast scenery which included Glenfinnan and Loch Shiel.

This morning, June 28th, we departed our overnight lodgings near Stirling and then drove to Stirling Castle a former Royal Palace and military site.
