This morning, we departed our lodgings in Grantown-on-Spey and drove south tour first destination of Orchill Loch Trout Fishery, near Gleneagles. Here, guest availed of an enjoyable trout fishing experience, albeit in wet weather.

Next we went to historic Stirling Castle, a former Royal Palace and military stronghold. Here we visited all key aspects including, Royal Apartments, Great Hall, Kitchens, Chapel Royal and tapestry weaving studio.

Next to nearby Wallace Monument, a massive tower erected in late 19th century as a memorial to William Wallace aka ‘Braveheart’ who famously defeated a  numerically superior English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. A climb to the top of the monument was rewarded with superb views over Stirling, Ochills and valley of the River Forth.

Finally, we arrived at our Edinburgh lodgings in readiness for tomorrow’s walking tour of Edinburgh.
