This morning, we departed our Fort William lodgings and drove south, tracking Loch Linnhe to our first stop of Glencoe. We visited the village, Clachaig Inn (with its ‘No Campbells’ policy) and then drove up through the Glen stopping for photos en-route including a call to the vantage point at King’s House Hotel.

Next we continued across Ranoch Moor and then south to the Trossachs region and our first destination of Balquhidder Church where can be found the burial plot of Rob Roy MacGregor and family.

After spending time at Balquhidder we moved on to our next stop of Callander where we availed of lunch and a brief exploration of this popular Stirlingshire  town on banks of the River Teith.

Next we visited Bracklin Falls which are located close to Callander. An enjoyable short hike in the warm sunshine.

Next we visited nearby Aberfoyle and views of Achray forest from the the David Marshall Lodge. Here we encountered a gentleman with two Scottish Deer Hounds.

Next to Balmaha for a view of Loch Lomond, a district closely associated with Rob Roy MacGregor and his exploits.

Next to Doune Castle, near Stirling, a former Royal hunting lodge and more recently associated with the film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’.
