Today, we drove across Dartmoor in S.W. England. This is a remote and rugged high elevation area which is suited to a wide range of activities including cycling, hiking, camping, horseback riding, white water rafting, climbing, river fishing and wild swimming. Dartmoor would also appeal to photographers and artists. Wildlife includes the famous Dartmoor ponies. The landscape includes a number of forests including Fenworthy and Bellever.

Today, principal towns and villages include Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Princetown, Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead. I was very impressed with the latter, particularly the old and varied architecture, and will feature this town in a subsequent blog post.
