Today, we were bedevilled by poor light conditions and rain. However, we did manage to make the best of the day.

Firstly, we caight the first ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, Skye On arrival at Armadale guests undertook some shopping following which we moved on to nearby Knock Castle for a photo shoot.

Next, on to nearby Isleornsay, a former fishing port which offers a lighthouse and other scenic views.

Next to Broadford for refueling and then to Sligachan where there is an old bridge, the fast flowing Sligachan River and views of the Black Cuillins (mountains). We had a photo stop here.

Next on up Talisker Distillery for more shopping following which we went round to a nearby Oyster bar for fresh oysters.

Next to Dunvegan. The castle was closed. Here we stopped for some photos including the harbour.

Next to  Waternish, stopping first to photograph Fairy Bridge and then to Stein Inn for a good lunch.

Next to Trumpan and the historic church, site of a famous 16th century conflict between MacLeods and MacDonalds involving hundreds of deaths which ranked as one of the bloodiest episodes in Scottish history.

 Finally, we resumed our island tour, to Uig (for refreshment) and then to the Quiraing and down the west of Trotternish to Portree and our lodgings for the night.

In the evening, we explored the small harbour and undertook some night photography. Here  is a video clip of fishermen at work sorting prawns.

Tomorrow’s weather is not expected to improve but we will try to obtain some worthwhile images from Skye and Lochalsh
