Black Isle Brewery Beers

Black Isle Brewery Beers

¬†¬†This evening, I am focusing on the Black Isle Brewery in the Scottish Highlands. This is a small, independent beer producer with a commitment to organic products.¬†The brewery is situated near Munlochy on the Black Isle. However, the term ‘Isle’ is a misnomer as it is a peninsula, not an island, situated just north of Inverness on the east of Scotland.¬†To the north is the Cromarty Firth whilst to the south is the Beauly Firth and Moray Firth. ( Firth is a Scottish word for bay or estuary.)¬†Black Isle Beer has links with the whisky industry in that:

  • There is a similarity with the whisky making process in that¬†whisky makers¬†first manufacture a weak beer before proceeding to distillation.
  • Some Black Isle beers are matured in ex-whisky and sherry casks.

Black Isle Brewery welcomes visitor groups who are provided with a tour of the brewery and brewing process. Various beer products can be purchased on the premises or by mail order. In the past I have included the brewery in my tours of the area and will be happy to call in again in the future.

The range of beers includes: Porter, Red Kite, Yellowhammer, Scotch Ale, Heather Honey, Blonde, Goldeneye Pale and Hibernator Oatmeal.
