Quaint Cottages at Carmunnock, Scotland

Today, I visited Carmunnock, a fascinating conservation village just five miles (8 km) south of Glasgow.

Carmunnock has a recorded history dating back to an early Christian site in the 8th century and a monastery by the 12th century. The current church ( Church of Scotland) dates from 1767. Many of the older houses display interesting architecture and date from the 17th, and 18th centuries when hand-loom weaving was an important economic activity. After exploring the village refreshments can be obtained at the well regarded, Laura’s Tea Room.
