Highland Cow at Pollok Park, Glasgow

This evening, I am focusing on Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park which is located south of the city centre with main access from Pollokshaws.

This extensive park is popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists. In addition to the physical activity there are a wide range of other interests and facilities which include:

  • The 18th century mansion known as Pollok House which is closely connected with the Maxwell family. The house is open to the public as well as sites associated with it, viz:
    • Woodland Garden
    • Walled Garden
    • Stable Courtyard where can be found Clydesdale horses.
    • Wildlife Garden
    • Weir.
  • White Cart Water. (A river.)
  • Grazing lands which are home to a herd of photogenic, Highland Cows.
  • Playing fields.
  • A golf course.
  • Woodland with pond.
  • Prehistoric defended site.
  • The famous Burrell Collection
