This evening, I am focusing on the small village ( pop 150) of Elgol on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Elgol is accessed by a 14 mile, single track road, B8083 from Broadford with no option but to return via the same road. Travelling along the 8083 is part of the experience of visiting Elgol because:

  • The road is slow-going.
  • Passes through rugged scenery.
  • Quite common to encounter sheep and cattle on the road.
  • Passes the ruined Cill Chriosd Church (Christ’s Church) with its ancient burial ground.
  • Winds round the edges of Loch Slappin .

The journey from Broadford can take about 45 minutes. On arrival, Elgol offers:
