Mallaig Harbour, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings at Mallaig on the Scottish mainland and caught the 9.30 am ferry to Armadale, Skye. This journey lasted about 30 mins. On arrival at Armadale we drove round to Isleornsay where guests engaged in shopping and visited the art gallery.

Next, we moved on through Broadford towards the village of Elgol along a single track road with sheep and new born lambs free roaming. We stopped first at the ruined church of  Cill Chriosd.

Eventually, we reached our destination of Elgol and then turned round and returned to Broadford along the same narrow and winding road, which was an experience in itself.

At Broadford we visited a craft shop specialising in wool and textiles close to Broadford Bay.

Next, we gravelled up through Sligachan to Dunvegan. Here we visited the castle gardens and took a small boat trip to view the numerous basking seals and other wildlife including herons and seabirds.

Finally, we travelled to island capital of Portree after another ride along a narrow, single track road.

Tonight, we have lodgings in Portree and tour the rest of Skye tomorrow, including Trotternish, Quiraing and Kilt Rock.

Weather today was mixed but did not interfere with our tour.
