Family Coat of Arms at Mount Stuart

 This morning, I collected my tour guests from central Glasgow and then drove west to Wemyss Bay to connect with the 10.15 am ferry departure for Rothesay, Isle of Bute. Upon arrival we proceeded to Mount Stuart, a 19th century Gothic palace, initiated by the 3rd Marquess of Bute (1847-1900) who, at the time, was believed to be the richest man in Britain. No expense  was spared on the lavish and intrictate construction. We joined in a one hour, guided tour which encompassed:

Paisley Martyrs’ Sandyford Church

Duke of Sutherland Monument, Scotland

This evening, I am focusing on the Duke of Sutherland Monument which sits atop Ben Bhraggie ( a mountain) close to the N.E. coast of Scotland and near the village of Golspie.
