This afternoon, I visited Paisley in S.W. Scotland, a town with a long textile industry heritage, particularly weaving and thread manufacture. The town gave it’s name to the ‘Paisley Pattern’.

Sma' Shot Cottages

In course of undertaking ancestry research in context of upcoming tour I came across the Sma’ Shot Cottages near the town centre, in Shuttle Street.

The cottages actually comprise a museum spanning approximately 70 years from the late 1700s to mid 1800s, illustrating the cottage weaving industry and later working and living conditions in the 19th century. The cottages are open to the public but have restricted opening hours, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Clearly, the cottages should appeal to visitors who wish to connect with Paisley’s past.
