Alnwick Castle, England

This morning, I collected guests from central Edinburgh, Scotland and then embarked on a day tour embracing:

  • Rosslyn Chapel. This has achieved fame due to its connection with the Da Vinci Code. Group attended 10.00 am tour which lasted 30 minutes and entailed an overview of the 15th century chapel incorporating the Sinclair family who own it, the exceptional carvings, long and chequered history, restoration and lore concerning the Apprentice Pillar.

Rosslyn Chapel, Scotland

  • ¬†The romantic ruin manifested in Melrose Abbey, one of the top visitor attractions in the Scottish Borders. This dates from the 12th. century but suffered extensive damage by English armies until final denouement at time of the Scottish Reformation in 1560.Here is buried the heart of King Robert the Bruce.

  • Alnwick Castle, home of the Percy family family for 700 years. This is the second largest inhabited castle in England with extensive grounds and gardens. This castle has gained extra attention due to its connection with Harry Potter. Broomstick flying lessons are provided as shown in third image below. Visit benefited from warm and sunny weather.

After concluding our tour of Alnwick Castle we returned to Edinburgh via the coastal route which afforded views of the North Sea.
