This afternoon I visited the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Scotland. Unfortunately, my visit coincided with persistent rain thus rendering outdoor photography close to impossible. This was unfortunate because with the right light conditions good images of trees and other vegetation would be available showing the russets, browns, oranges and other subtle hues of Autumn colours.

However, I did have some success inside the various glasshouses where the vibrant colours of flowers from hotter climes around the world clashed with the gloom outside.  Below is a selection of some of the flower images which I obtained today.

The Royal Botanic Garden was founded in 1670 and is home to 15,000 plant species, one of the richest such collections in the world.

In the near future I plan to post a wider range of flower and plant images together with respective names and more information.

At some stage I will have to return to the Garden when the sun is out!
