Hunterian Art Gallery, Glasgow, Scotland

This evening I am posting information on the Hunterian Museum which is associated with Glasgow University and located in Glasgow’s West End.

This museum has its origins in a collection assembled by one William Hunter and bequeathed by him in 1783. The collection was opened to the public in 1807 and now ranks as the oldest museum in Scotland. Key constituents are:

  • The core museum which includes a gallery dedicated to Roman Scotland and the Antonine Wall.
  • Zoology Museum
  • Art Gallery
  • Mackintosh House, representing re-build of a private house occupied by leading Glasgow architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
  • Anatomy Museum.

Entrance is free.
