Princes Street, Edinburgh, Scotland

Today, I paid a visit to Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city during which I visited:

  • Freemasons’ Hall in George Street. This is home of the Grand Lodge of Scotland with museum and library. Here I availed of a private, escorted tour of the premises which date from 1807 and provide a display of masonic items with emphasis on Scottish Freemasonry from Britain and around the world.
  • The Royal Society of Edinburgh in George Street. This not-for-profit knowledge based organisation was established in the 18th century by Royal Charter for “the advancement of learning and useful knowledge”. The Society is home to a fellowship of 1500 persons of both sexes who are experts in their respective academic fields. Impressive interior design and architecture.
  • Christmas Markets near Princes Street, Edinburgh’s leading shopping area.
  • The Scott Monument for panoramic views.
  • The famous Royal Mile, which was unusually quiet at this time of year.
