Anemone Flower at the Hidden Gardens, Glasgow, Scotland

Anemone Flower at Hidden Gardens, Glasgow, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on an intriguing community garden located in the inner city, multi-cultural area of Pollockshields, Glasgow, Scotland.

The Gardens are aptly named because they are not actively promoted and the visitor needs to research the location in advance.

The are two facets: a series of specialised, themed areas and various artworks woven into the gardens design.

The Gardens contain:

  • Ballet Border.
  • Herb Border.
  • Wildlife Annex.
  • Bee and Butterfly Border.
  • Meadow Area.
  • White Wall Border.
  • Medicinal and Culinary Courtyard.

The artwork features:

  • Rill, a circle of moving water.
  • Xylotheque, a library of Scottish woodland.
  • Inscribed texts carved into sandstone waymarkers.
  • Hidden Worlds which comprise a series of aluminium protrusions.
  • Eight birdboxes with inscribed texts.

Space is a former tramway depot. Close by is a Sikh temple and an arts venue.

My visit coincided with emergence of Spring flowers.
