Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow, Scotland

This afternoon I led a three-hour tour of key Glasgow sites for visiting group from Scandinavia. Tour theme was event management and sites associated with upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held July 23rd-Aug 3rd 2014.

We had brief stops at House for an Art Lover and Govan Old Church (Carved Stones) but otherwise the tour was conducted on a ‘drive past’ basis. Many of the sites, e.g. football stadia and Emirates Arena, will be used for events during the Commonwealth Games. Because of the nature of the tour, many of the images shown here are from library sources.

After collecting group from Glasgow Airport we proceeded to the following:

  • Rangers Football Club
  • House for an Art Lover ( refreshments).
  • Kelvingrove
  • Byres Road
  • Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre
  • Clyde Riverside Architecture
  • Glasgow Green
  • People’s Palace
  • Doulton Fountain
  • Celtic Park
  • Tollcross Park swimming venue.
  • Emirates Arena ( Velodrome)
  • Glasgow Cathedral
  • Collection of early medieval carved stones at Govan Old Church.
  • Drop-off Millennium Hotel, George Square.

Fortunately, the weather was sunny and dry.
