Esatwood Ramblers, Scotland

This evening, I am reporting on today’s hike by Eastwood Ramblers. This entailed a six-mile route encompassing, country scenery, historic village, a medieval castle, woodlands, sheep, ducks, Highland Cow, Fallow Deer and more.

In Fenwick, East Ayrshire¬†the group encountered the restored Parliament Wall, a site where groups of local weavers met in the 18th century to discuss the issues of the day away from the prying eyes of the authorities. From these meetings evolved the world’s first recorded co-operative society and first credit union, both dating from 1761.
