Avon Water in South Lanarkshire.

This evening, I am reporting on a small group hike in S.W. Scotland. This was focused on South Lanarkshire, about 14 miles S.E. of Glasgow.

The route spanned a scenic area taking in Millheaugh, the Avon Gorge, Morgan Glen and Chatelherault Country Park. As will be seen from the images below, good views of the Avon Water ( river) were obtained. The hikers also went through the town of Larkhall whose industries were coal mining, textiles, weaving and iron & steel all of which have now disappeared. There was an overlap with the Chatelherault Country Park hike in February as recorded in this blog post. Because of deteriorating weather conditions, photographs were restricted to the early stages of the hike.
