Robinson Crusoe inspired artwork at Lower Largo, Fife, Scotland

This evening, I am reporting on a recent small group hike between Lower Largo and Elie along Scotland’s Fife Coast. Distance covered was about eight miles.

The route traversed a scenic and popular stretch of coastline embracing:

  • Home of Alexander Selkirk, the real world role model for Robinson Crusoe.
  • Sandy beaches.
  • Bird life.
  • Dumbarnie Links Wildlife Reserve.
  • Wildflowers and vegetation.
  • A defunct railway line.
  • The famous Elie Chain Walk traversing a harsh rock face.
  • Excellent views across the Firth of Forth, looking south to East Lothian.
