This evening, I am posting information on today’s tour which commenced Glasgow International Airport and finished Larne, Northern Ireland.

Guests arrived at the Airport about midday whereupon we embarked on a tour ofkey sites along  the Ayrshire coast prior to connecting with our 7.30 pm ferry departure from Troon to Northern Ireland.

We commenced with a direct drive, south to Culzean Castle. Here guests were able to  tour the historic castle and relax in the surrounding facilities.

Culzean Castle is an impressive 18th century mansion designed by leading Scottish architect, Robert Adam for the 10th Earl Cassillis. The Castle occupies a cliff-top position overlooking the Firth of Clyde with views towards the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig. The interior is neo-classical. The Castle benefits from an extensive parkland setting with small lake, gardens and a deer park.

We departed Culzean about 4.00pm and then visited other important sites nearby, chiefly:

  • Dunure Castle
  • Electric Brae
  • Ayr Beach
  • Alloway’s Robert Burns connection.
  • Royal Troon Golf Club.

Finally, we availed of refreshments at a Troon pub before catching our ferry to Larne.

Tomorrow, we commence our tour of Northern Ireland.
