Edinburgh Fringe

This morning, we departed our Edinburgh lodgings and travelled into town by bus to visit the castle and other sites. At this time of year Edinburgh has two events in process, namely the Edinburgh Fringe and Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The former is a cultural event  comprising a variety of entertainment shows at venues around the City whilst the latter is a very popular military themed event focused on bands, marching, dance and music.

In order to attract visitors to Fringe events various ‘taster’ performances take place at the top end of the Royal Mile which add colour and dynamism to thew otherwise grey street scene. On the way up to the Castle we encountered many  of the Fringe performers.

At the Castle we visited all the key sites including Mons Meg ( cannon), St. Margaret’s Chapel. Crown Jewels, Stone of Scone, Great Hall and Prison.
