This evening, I am focusing on the wide and deep choice of locally produced Scottish food which a visitor may encounter in course of a tour.

  • Haggis: Traditional savoury dish made from chitterlings or stomach of a sheep.
  • Meat: Includes venison, game, lamb, pork and beef.
  • Soups: Cullen Skink ( made from a haddock-fish-base) and Scotch Broth.
  • Organically produced vegetables and other foods.
  • Fish: Cod, haddock pus a wide range of other seafood such as oysters.
  • Traditional Fish and Chips
  • Cheese: A wide range from regional sources such as Arran and Orkney.
  • Sticky Toffee Pudding: Sponge cake covered in toffee sauce.
  • Clootie Dumpling: Fruit pudding.
  • Black Bun: Mixed fruit based sweet dessert traditionally associated with Hogmanay (New Year).
  • Tablet: A fudge type confectionary very high in sugar.
  • Ice Cream: A wide range of locally produced products including branded from Orkney and Arran.
  • Real Ale and Craft Beers: Produced from a large number of regional micro breweries.
