Tunnel at Cawdor Castle Garden, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information and images of the garden at Cawdor Castle in the Scottish Highlands.

The Castle has a history dating back to the 15th century and is long associated with Clan Campbell. Location is about 15 miles N.E. of Inverness and thus is well positioned for tourists who wish to visit other important local sites such as Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairns.

At Cawdor there are three gardens:

  • Flower Garden
  • Walled Garden
  • Wild Garden which links with the Cawdor Burn (stream).

Clearly, the local climate encourages lush vegetation with varying shades of green dominating but interspersed with other colours depending on season such as reds, violets, yellows, pinks and blues.

Visitors should not overlook the Cawdor Burn which runs behind the castle and is accessed via a gate in the Walled Garden.

A good spot for photographs and quiet reflection.
