Quaint Cottage at Aldochlay,, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on today’s small group tour.

Fortunately, we benefited from much improved weather characterised by sunshine and limited rain although temperature was cool at around 5 to 7 degrees centigrade.

We departed our lodgings in Balloch on southern tip of Loch Lomond and then progressed as follows:

  • First to the popular village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond. Here we had good views of the loch and quaint heritage village.
  • Next, north, across Rannoch Moor to Glencoe. Latter is famous for its mountainous scenery which today benefited from isolated snow remnants in the gullies and peaks.
  • Next, we continued north, tracking Loch Linnhe through Fort William and on up the Great Glen to Fort Augustus on the southern tip of Loch Ness. We stopped here for photos and to admire the fleet of locks associated with the Caledonian Canal.
  • Next, on up to Castle Urquhart half way of Loch Ness. We stopped here to admire the castle and views.
  • Next on up to Inverness which represented the northern ¬†limit of our tour.We then turned south, travelling down the A9 to our destination of Grantown on Spey where we checked into our hotel for the night.

Tomorrow, we continue south to St. Andrews and other locations.
