Falconer at Dunrobin Castle, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on the popular falconry displays which take place at Dunrobin Castle, on Scotland’s N.E. Coast, about 53 miles north of Inverness.

During the tourist season these displays take place twice daily and last about 20 mins. The birds shown in this post are Harris Hawks from the Americas and the Peregrine Falcon which is native to the U.K.

In addition to flying and hunting demonstrations there are about 30 other birds of play on display including eagles and owls.

In Britain, the Falcon has long been used as a hunting partner for man and in the right hands can supply a large amount of food, such as rabbits.
