Osprey Nest, Loch of the Lowes, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on one of Scotland’s top ornithological views, namely the nesting Ospreys at Loch of the Lowes near Dunkeld in central Scotland.

This site is operated by the Scottish Wildlife Trust which monitors progress of the birds and reports updates via a blog.

At Loch of the Lowes there is a small visitor centre focused on birds and other wildlife. Visitors can view wildlife on the Loch, including the Ospreys through a hide. The Trust also has a webcam focused on the Osprey nest.

The single pair of breeding Ospreys can be viewed from early April until late August.

Ospreys are a fish-eating bird of prey which migrate from Africa. In the U.K. the bird’s stronghold is Scotland.
