Whisky Tasting at Royal Lochnagar Distilllery, Deeside

This morning, we departed our hotel in Dundee in the east of Scotland and drove north-east for an hour to the coastal town of Stonehaven and nearby Dunnottar Castle. The latter is a ruin positioned on a cliff edge facing the North Sea and was resplendent in today’s brilliant sunshine. The castle ruins occupy an extensive site and provide a tangible link with a long history stretching back to, possibly, Viking times. The extant ruins were probably in use from the 13th to 17th centuries.At this site there is a variety of bird life to observe plus a spectacular coastline.
