This morning, we embarked on a tour to connect with McDougall family history centred in the town of Hamilton, Scotland.

First to Old Avon Bridge to view location where ancestor, John McDougall had carved his initials on the bridge parapet in the early 20th century.

Next, to Hamilton Grammar School where two family members were educated in the early 20th century.

Next, to Bent Cemetery to view site of Clelland family burial place.

Next to Chatelherault, an impressive 18th century hunting lodge and summer house to the former Dukes of Hamilton. Designed by leading Scottish architect, William Adam.Unfortuantely, we were unable to access the interior due to a wedding  but we did avail of lunch at the Visitor Centre and benefit from the stunning views towards Glasgow and the west.

Next to Abercorn Drive, Hamilton to visit family connections. At this time we encountered very heavy rain.

Next to Strathclyde Country Park where we stopped to visit the Roman Bathhouse dating from the second century, A.D. plus an ancient stone bridge which is also considered to be of Roman origin

Next to Fairhill Place for exterior view of childhood home of relative and then to Clydesdale Avenue to visit relatives.

Final visit was Clydesdale Avenue, Hamilton to visit relatives.
