Trip on Snowdon Mountain Railway, North Wales

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Porthmadog and drove for about 45 minutes to the Snowdon Mountain Railway at Llanberis. Here we joined the 10.30 am train to the top of Mount Snowdon (3560 feet) and then returned via the same route. Round trip lasted two and a half hours. For most of the trip weather was benign although the summit of Snowdon was covered in cloud.

Upon return to Llanberis we drove back to Porthmadog and visited the engineering workshops of the Ffestiniog Railway by way of an escorted tour.

Next, we joined the 3.45 pm departure on the Ffestiniog Railway which took us on a round trip via Blaenau Ffestiniog returning at 6.30 pm. This route passed through more stunning scenery including farmland with sheep, cattle and a horse. The green landscapes were embellished with a wide range of flora including heather (in bloom).
