Highland Cow, Glamis Castle, Scotland

This morning, we departed our lodgings in Dundee and travelled north for about 30 minutes to visit Glamis Castle, one of Scotland’s leading visitor attractions and our primary destination of the day.

The castle (pronounced ‘Glarms’) has been the home of the Earls of Strathmore since 1372. The castle is perhaps best known for its links with the British Royal Family, in particular the late Queen Mother (1900-2002).

Guest joined escorted tour of the castle interior lasting about 60 minutes. This encompassed the Victorian Dining Room, Medieval Crypt, 17th century Drawing Room, Chapel, Billiard Room and the Royal Apartments.

Other facilities and attractions at Glamis include:

  • The recently reinvigorated Walled Garden.
  • Woodlands
  • Italian Garden

We departed Glamis about 1.30pom and then travelled to Edinburgh via St Andrews and Fife.
