Tour Group at Glen Grant Distillery, Forres, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on Glen Grant Distillery in Forres, Speyside, Scotland.

Glen Grant has a history dating back to 1840 when founded by brothers James and John Grant. The distillery was owned by the Grant family through to 1953 subsequent to which various mergers and ownership changes occurred culminating in Campari of Italy gaining control in 2006.

The distillery has four pairs of stills which have capacity to produce 6.2m litres p.a. All the stills are fitted with purifiers.

The whisky product is light and delicate. About half of output goes into blends, especially Chivas Regal. The single malts tend to be relatively young in age with a five-year old targeted at the Italian market.Flagship malt is the 10-year-old.

Glen Grant is unusual in having an in-house bottling plant on site.

Tours are available but photography is restricted.
