Forth Rail Bridge, South Queensferry, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on South Queensferry, a small town with population of 9000 near Edinburgh located on the southern coast of the Firth of Forth. ( A ‘Firth is a bay or estuary.)

The town has medieval origins. It rose to prominence as a ferry crossing terminus across the Firth which operated for hundred of years until the advent of the rail bridge (late 19th century) and road bridge ( 1960s) .

South Queensferry is close to both the city of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport.

Medieval charm augmented by views of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge attracts many visitors.

Boat tours of the Firth are available from a point close to the Rail Bridge.

South Queensferry is well endowed with hotels and other types of accommodation.
