Sunset over Loch Broom, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on Ullapool in the N.W. Highlands of Scotland.

Ullapool is a combined ferry port and fishing harbour situated on the northern shore of Loch Broom.

The name is of Scandinavian origin (Old Norse) and translates as ‘Olaf’s Farm’.

The population of Ullapool is about 1550 and location is some 57 miles N.W. of Inverness.

Ullapool is linked by ferry with Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides (islands).

Facilities at Ullapool include hotels and various accommodations, post office, shops, pubs, banks and a museum with information on family history.

A good base or stopover for touring the Northern Highlands of Scotland.
