Winter shadows over White Cart Water, Pollok Country Park, Glasgow

Today, parts of the U.K. are experiencing the results of exceptionally heavy rainfall with two large cities, Leeds and York, suffering heavy flooding. However, Scotland has, so far, escaped the worst of the inundations. Temperature in Glasgow remains unseasonably mild at about 7 centigrade during daytime.

In Glasgow, west of Scotland, we experienced a break in the pattern of overcast and wet weather with bright sunshine and blue skies for most of the day, albeit with the sun at a low angle consistent with the latitude for this time of year.

This morning, I ventured out on my bike to Pollok Country Park, a 146 hectare country park located in south Glasgow, primarily for the purpose of taking photographs.Subjects included:

  • Clydesdale Horses.
  • Highland Cattle
  • A 2000 year-old Iron-Age settlement known as a Ring Work.
  • White Cart Water (river).
  • A weir relating to a now defunct hydro-electric scheme.
  • Pollok House, a grand mansion which dates from 1752.
  • Trees and reflections.
