Walking the walk between Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, Scotland

This evening, I am posting information on today’s group hike following a route around Dunblane (pop 9,000) and Bridge of Allan (pop 5,000) in central Scotland. The two towns are about three miles apart. Dunblane is best known as the home of top tennis player, Andy Murray.

With temperature around freezing, the ground was covered by a light frost. Features of the route included:

  • A skein of geese.
  • Sheep.
  • Allan Water (river).
  • Forestry
  • Kippenrait Glen (valley)
  • Dunblane Hydro (hotel)
  • A cave which may have been the inspiration for Ben Gunn’s dwelling in Treasure Island. (Robert Louis Stevenson visited this area.)
  • A weir and defunct textile mill.
