Oban Waterfront at night.

This evening, I am posting a portfolio of night-time images taken during my recent visit to Oban, Scotland.

Facts and information concerning Oban:

  • Population 8500
  • A ferry port and tourist destination on the West of Scotland, about 100 miles N.W.of Glasgow. From here there are ferry routes to the Outer Hebrides and Isle of Mull.
  • Faces waterways comprising the Firth of Lorn and Loch Linnhe.
  • Oban Whisky Distillery is located in the centre of the town.
  • Known for seafood.
  • Close by are two castles; Dunstaffnage and Dunollie.
  • On the hill overlooking Oban is McCaig’s Tower, a 19th century structure which resembles the Coliseum in Rome.
  • Benefits from rail, bus, road and air connections.
  • Well endowed with hotels, restaurants, pubs and tourist accommodations.

As will be evident from the images, Oban is very well illuminated at night.
