Clans Burial Marker at Culloden Battlefield, Scotland

This morning we departed Inverness city and embarked on a trip encompassing three local historic sites, viz:

  • First to Culloden Battlefield. Here in April 1746 occurred the last battle on British soil when a British ‘Redcoat’; Army under General Cumberland defeated a force of Jacobites under Bonnie Prince Charlie and thereby finally disposed of the Jacobite threat to the thrones of England and Scotland. We walked around the entire site including Jacobite lines, Redcoat lines and burial markers of the defeated clans. We also visited the excellent Visitor Centre with detailed information on events leading up to the battle and the battle itself.
